Abstract :
In this paper an observer based load frequency controller is called local load frequency controller is proposed to mitigate load frequency control problem of multi area deregulated thermal power system. A local load frequency controller (LLC) is placed in feedback loop in coordination with controllable HVDC link. This paper presents design of Sliding mode observer based controller (Local Load Frequency Controller) for load frequency control of multi area power system in coordination with HVDC link have been proposed. The coordination with local load frequency controller and HVDC link is tested on two area deregulated power system under one possible contract scenario. The performance of proposed controller is compared to ROOC and FOOC.
