  • Abstract
Aim to the drawbacks of traditional battery emergency power supply (EPS), which the emergency power time is extremely short and the switching time is a little bit long, an innovative design of fuel cell emergency power supply system based on digital signal possessor (DSP) was developed. The main strategy for this design is that using fuel cells as the main power supply while using a small battery as an auxiliary power supply. Thus, the power-on time of EPS is immensely extended. In addition, the hardware can automatically switch when the utility grid power down. Also, the switching time can be controlled within 10ms. Finally, the FC EPS system has been tested. The results show that the design has a series of advantages: safe and reliable, the power-on time is long enough and the switching time is incredibly short, and it has a strong practical value.
