Abstract
Probability theory is used to model crosstalk accumulation in WDM networks, from the same source and different sources at the same nominal wavelength, as a function of link utilisation, number of wavelength channels, nodal connectivity and routing algorithms. BER performance and power penalty are assessed as a function of optical crosstalk by approximating the noise statistics as Gaussian
