Abstract
The resistivity, thermoelectric power, Hall coefficient and magnetisation of 4H-Ba0.8Sr0.2RuO3 and 9R-BaRu1-xCrxO3 (x=0, 0.05 and 0.1) with a quasi-one dimensional crystallographic structure are reported. From these data we can deduce a typical metallic behaviour of the 4H and 9R mother phases in which chromium acts as a strong scattering centre. The characteristic features of these ruthenates are the presence of two kinds of carriers, holes and electrons, and the opening of a pseudogap in the hole band.
