Abstract
For spherical-near-field (SNF) antenna measurements the smallest radius of the sphere (maximum radial extent MRE) enclosing the whole antenna is needed. Which MRE for antennas mounted on a vehicle or integrated inside a vehicle structure should be used for SNF? To find an indication several different vehicle antennas in frequency range 100 MHz up to 6 GHz were measured by SNF scanning with an MRE enclosing the whole vehicle. The results are back-projected (holograms) to surfaces near to the antenna feeding, surfaces like roof or trunk lid and surfaces near other vehicle parts to find possible radiating and scattering sources besides the intended antenna.
