Abstract :
Discusses a way of automatically monitoring, that is extracting information in a simultaneous manner from an arbitrary number of channels in the radio spectrum, by the use of the new technique of parallel signal processing. A system for monitoring data signals in the high frequency (HF) part of the spectrum is described in detail. The combination of specific DSPs and the transputer in a modular building block is particularly useful for building complex systems. The application of this technology to spectrum monitoring is described. The software programmability of the technique makes reconfiguration, even adaptive real-time reconfiguration, of the hardware possible, thus preserving the investment made in the system
