Abstract :
This paper presents a multi-resolution shape coding algorithm using quadtree-based decomposition to improve the coding efficiency. We propose a technique with block shift operation to optimize the quadtree codes. Quadtree (QT) decomposition is a simple technique used to obtain an image representation at different resolution levels and suitable for hardware implementation. The proposed algorithm has a better coding efficiency than existing methods.
