Abstract :
Despite the great advances of individual standards under OSI umbrella, there is a lack of consistency in each standard´s approach to certain common aspects. For OSI to be a success in the office and workplace, these standards must work together, support each other, and prevent a coherent interface to the user. Total integration at this level, termed open systems co-operation, is discussed. The concept of groupware offers a positive way forward for enforcing commonality among otherwise independent OSI applications. By progressing the group communications model, individual standards can be aligned, to achieve open systems cooperation
