Abstract :
Minimum requirements have been developed for cable television systems and digital television receivers so that the receiver may be connected directly to the RF output of the cable system to provide the following baseline service: in-the-clear NTSC analog and DTV programs; scrambled DTV programs using a POD module (including PPV and subscription programs ordered by phone; and event information data). The technical elements of this baseline definition are presented as well as the related standards development activities and any FCC decisions in this field.
