Abstract
In this paper, a satellite channel under good conditions is simulated on the basis of an analysis of the channel characteristics. A communication system model is constructed, the serially-concatenated turbo codes are applied to it and the system performance is studied. According to the principles of adaptive filtering a modified system model is proposed later and its performance is also analyzed. Simulation results show that when the Rician factor is in certain appropriate ranges, the modified model can achieve an additional Eb/N0 gain of about 0.5 dB
