Abstract
This paper describes a new method for the determination of the circuit breaker operation times (opening, closing) through the application of mathematical tools, namely the wavelet transform (WT), to both currents and voltages that are applied to the circuit breaker. This method makes use of the data (samples) corresponding to the voltages and currents recorded by digital oscillography relays. The algorithm basic principle is shown through the simulations performed in MatLab. Thereafter, such simulations will be compared with the data obtained by the monitoring system through the Hall effect current transducer installed in the three phases of the circuit breaker opening and closing winding circuits, which will realize the current oscillographs
