Abstract
An overview of how series connected and combined series/shunt connected FACTS controllers are studied in an AC system is presented. Specifically, the TCSC, SSSC, and GUPFC (or CSC) is presented. The basic performance attributes of several FACTS controllers are presented. The impacts of the FACTS controller and its control setting on power system performance are also presented in the form of case studies.
