Abstract :
A hardware architecture is presented for the embedded zerotree wavelet (EZW) algorithm. We encode independently the symbols generated in the significant mapping (SMAP) and those in the successive approximation quantization (SAQ). Compared to previously proposed architectures, our design leads to fewer transmitted bits and thus alleviates the communication overhead without sacrificing PSNR.
