Abstract
In a Distribution system, switching of large inductive loads causes a drop in the voltage at the load bus due to increase in VAR demand which lead to loss of voltage stability. In order to maintain the voltage within a tolerance limit, reactive power compensation devices such as TCSC, DSTATCOM and UPFC, are used. These FACTS Controllers help in increasing the operational efficiency of power systems without affecting the reliability of supply. DSTATCOM can enhance the power Distribution capability and thus extend the steady state stability limit. The non linear control of DSTATCOM control is based on the exact linearization via feedback. Here PI control is used to regulate DC voltage. To estimate PI coefficients Genetic algorithm is applied and compared with trial and error method
