Abstract :
Power system condition monitoring is concerned with gathering data to enable better understanding of the health, or condition, of a plant item. There are many reasons why condition monitoring data may be of value. Common sense dictates that best use is made of available data before further investment in specialised condition monitoring equipment. Condition monitoring devices may produce results which vary both with plant condition and operating regime. Examples are given for transformers, cables and circuit breakers
