Abstract :
This paper propose fuzzy based contrast enhancement. Contrast enhancement is vital and challenging area of image processing. Proposed methods, first fuzzify the image, apply the transformation function and defuzzify back the image to pixel plane. Fuzzy sets are used in place of classical sets as it over comes the uncertainty or vagueness in an image. This method uses sin() for transformation as it enhances higher value pixels to much more extend and makes lower value pixel 0. This method is applied to medical images that exists contrast variability due to image capturing environment. Finally performance parameters are evaluated that quantify and analyse the contrast changes. Experiment results show that the performance of proposed method is better than available methods in contrast enhancement.
