Abstract :
This study presents a revolutionary computer-assisted surgery planning and simulating system under multimedia environment for the internal fixation operative of calcaneal collapse. This system uses the full-scale 3D reverse engineering technique in designing and developing preoperative planning modules for the internal fixation operative of calcaneal collapse. The planning system not only presents a full-sized three-dimensional image of the calcaneus, but it also provides detailed interior measurements of the calcaneus from various cutting planes to obtain sectional image. This study applied multimedia user interface to integrate different software´s function to a functional integration surgical planning system. These functions include 3-D image model capturing, cutting, moving, rotating and measurement for relevant foot anatomy can integrated as the user function, in the mean time the planning process can record by this system for further study and discussion. Furthermore, for the system being a computer based with multimedia user interface, surgeons can utilize it as part of their preoperative planning in searching for the best and most efficient operative procedure. This system also has databank that can update and extend, will provide the clinical cases to different users for experience learning.
