Abstract
This paper presents research experiences of an undergraduate student in areas of power system fault analysis and fault location. The student obtains valuable skills by using Matlab and SimPowerSystems software, and an in-depth understanding of short-circuit analysis theories and procedures. It is shown that research involving formula derivation, system modeling, algorithm coding, and result visualization can greatly enhance the student´s interests in power system subject.
