Abstract :
The interface between link and system level simulations is important for accurate evaluation of wireless communication systems. Two popular methods, modified actual value interface (AVI) and quasi-static method (QSM) cannot accurately model the Es/Nt variation brought by fading channel and link adaptation. Es/N t variation brings link performance loss and it is important to model its effect to system performance. A new method is proposed to characterize Es/Nt variation with standard deviation of equivalent Es/Nt in this paper. Subslot is also used as the minimal unit of Es/Nt calculation to achieve more accurate modeling for high velocity. Link level results show the importance of modeling Es/Nt variation, for example, link performance loss can be as high as 2.5 dB when standard deviation of equivalent per-subslot Es/Nt is 5 dB. Furthermore, Simulation results verify that the proposed method can accurately model Es /Nt variation for system level simulations
