Abstract
This paper proposes a new method to remove blocking artifacts for application to MPEG-2 video. In this method, coding information such as DCT coefficients and motion vectors is utilized to classify each block. Blocking artifacts are detected by using the classification results and removed with spatial filtering. The effectiveness of this method has been verified through computer simulation.
