Abstract
IEEE´s Nuclear Power Engineering Committee (NPEC) has undertaken a number of initiatives to Improve nuclear oriented standards for plant operation and maintenance and to transition away from the current primary focus on original design. One of NPEC´s improvement goals has been to increase the effectiveness and usefulness of its standards for extending the operating life and license of existing nuclear power plants. Working Group 3.4 (Aging Assessment) was assigned to this goal and recently completed its role in this effort. This paper will summarize the approach taken to identify appropriate standards for enhancement and the resulting recommendations determined to better support license renewal and plant operations through aging assessments and management of plant electrical equipment.
