Abstract :
A hybrid monopole dielectric resonator antenna using Bi-Conical shaped dielectric ring resonator with air intrusion has been investigated. The new geometry significantly improves the bandwidth compared to the published papers available in open literature. S11< −10dB ranging 5.3–27.1 GHz has been experimented by simulation, showing 5.1∶1 ratio bandwidth, i.e., greater than 134.56% impedance bandwidth at the centre of the band with 5 dB gain. Such useful characteristics could be suitably utilized in designing ultrawideband monopole antennas for wireless communications.
