Abstract :
In this paper, new pulsewidth modulation (PWM) techniques for the two-leg, four-leg and three-leg two-phase inverter are proposed instead of conventional complex techniques, which is applied to adjustable speed control of two-phase induction motor. First, the PWM technique for two-leg two-phase inverter is proposed on the basis of the sinusoidal PWM technique. Second, the PWM for four-leg two-phase inverter is proposed on the basis of the double carrier wave. Third, the PWM technique for three-leg two-phase inverter is proposed assuming that three-leg two-phase inverter is the equivalent circuit for " four-leg two-phase inverter with the coupled two windings" . Simulation and experimental results are provided to illustrate the proposed two techniques.
