Abstract :
In this paper, we propose modifications of the classical Smith predictor (O.J. Smith, 1957) which are applicable to a class of unstable systems. These predictors are observer-based. The observation error is controlled with delayed state feedback, whereby parameters are calculated using a recently-developed numerical method for the stabilization of linear time-delay systems - the continuous pole placement method (W. Michiels et al., 2000). We consider the class of stabilizable systems in the 2D case and make a comparison with related methods in the literature
