Abstract :
This paper presents a novel double paddle-shaped radiation pattern reconfigurable antenna using shorting probe. The antenna consists of a central circular patch and two paddle-shaped parasitic patches with U-shaped slot. The parasitic patches are connected to the shorting probe via two PIN diodes. By switching the diode states (ON or OFF), the radiation pattern of the proposed antenna can be reconfigured into two modes. The designed antenna works in 5.2GHzWLAN frequency band. The simulated and measured results of the return loss and radiation pattern are presented and demonstrate a good agreement.
