Abstract
Man-made noise (MMN) appears as samples of high amplitude when demodulated by a digital receiver. When the effect of MMN pulses over a specific communication system is researched it is useful to know what can be expected about the pulses in terms of amplitude, phase, duration and time between two consecutive ones. In this paper we describe what parameters are needed in order to appropriately characterize MMN in a practical way, and how we can use these parameters to generate MMN sequences that would be added to the demodulated original signal if we want to research the impairing consequences. As a practical application, this paper also presents the development of a digital MMN generator for testing communication system impairment.
