Abstract
The Army Technical Architecture (ATA) mandated the use of BGP V4 as the exterior gateway dynamic routing protocol for use across communications systems that employ Internet Protocol (IP). This paper provides an analysis of the behavior of BGP under certain network states that exists in the tactical environment, such as network re-initialization, steady state, topology change, and task re-organization. Based on the analysis, BGP parameters are selected to minimize the bandwidth utilization for the above-mentioned network states
