Abstract
Results of two dimensional modelling of a plasma opening switch (POS) in the frame of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) with the Hall effect are presented for two cases: (1) assuming development of ion-sound instability in the plasma of erosion gap; and (2) assuming that there are no instabilities in the plasma. Based on experimental and simulation results, analytical formulae are derived for: (a) the resistance of the POS; (b) the time of upstream current rising in the load; and (c) the value of the voltage drop in the POS
