Abstract
In this paper, a design and simulation of the Coherent One Way protocol (COW) is suggested by using OPTISYSTEM 9.0 software. The concept of the protocol is to use data+decoy bits to generate secure cryptographic key. The simulation results were taken at 0.5 Gbps data rate, with the ability to increase this data rate. The results showed that Quantum Key Distribution can be implemented using COW protocol with Weak Coherent Pulses (WCP) transmitted in optical fiber without polarization control concern.
