Abstract
A method for quantitative analysis of myocardial kinetic energy from Gated SPECT is proposed. The method quantifies the three dimensional (3D) left ventricle (LV) motion by a series of 3D velocity vector fields computed automatically for each voxel on the sequence of cardiac volumes. Using the velocity vector it is possible to estimate the kinetic energy for each voxel leading to a new set of 3D images. The kinetic energy polar maps or bulls-eyes are then computed from each 3D image. The proposed method has been applied to the study of normal and abnormal hearts
