Abstract :
In this paper we propose an efficient approach that can reform a Bluetooth piconet when the master leaves the piconet and achieve high survivability of the piconet. Since most of Bluetooth devices are portable, the master of a piconet may leave and the piconet must be reformed to make most of the slaves reconnect to a new master to achieve high survivability. However, the slaves that participate in reforming the piconet would consume much energy and therefore their lifetime is reduced, so that the survivability of the piconet degrades. For our proposed approach, the slave that is selected as the new master can reconnect more slaves into the new piconet and the piconet reformation consumes less energy, so that the piconet survivability is optimized. Moreover, we evaluate and verify our approach by simulation study
