Abstract :
A semitransparent organic light emitting device was fabricated by thermal evaporation only. Thin Ag films were used in both anode and cathode. The optical and electrical property of the device was improved after using several methods to modify the electrodes. O2 plasma pretreatment was employed after anode was formed, and the cathode was consisted of a composite metal cathode and a cap layer. The cap layer was used to enhance the cathode´s transmission, and the thickness of the cap layer was derived from transfer matrix theory. The emitted light from anode shows much better performance than that of the light from cathode, and the whole device possesses superior electroluminescence characteristics that are proper for transparent display
