Abstract
Variable structure control (VSC) has been recognized as a powerful control technique capable of providing robustness control with respect to system parameter variations and external disturbances. However, there is a lack of a design method for a practical VSC system, beginning with the given system performance specification and ending at the specification of instrumentation requirements. This paper involves the exploration and development of a practical design procedure for VSC systems. Simulation results are given to study the effect of the VSC parameters on the system performance
