Abstract :
The W-transform is constructed by relaxing the orthogonality conditions required in the classical wavelet transforms. Using nonorthogonal and orthogonally compensated W-transforms, different images are compressed and reconstructed. The effects of the two types of W-transforms on compressed images are analyzed. Different measures of compression quality are used in the performance evaluation of the reconstructed images. The quadratic spline and Daubechies wavelet coefficients are also compared for compression effects on different images
