Abstract :
Electrical arc flash is a significant hazard associated with electrical power systems. Understanding of this hazard is developing, and the electrical hazards our workers encounter can be reduced with proper design and work practice management. This paper provides an introduction to the electrical arc flash hazard, and description of a comprehensive arc flash management program that includes analysis, electrical system design, and work practices and protective clothing plans. A case history of an industrial site´s arc flash hazard mitigation program is included.
