Abstract
In this paper, the operation of a digitizer of repetitive waveforms is discussed for the case when the total acquisition time available is limited. In this case the potential increases in horizontal and/or vertical resolutions achievable by the digitizer should be balanced according to the application. Several ways of achieving this balance are demonstrated using simulated and experimental data. Reduction of the total measurement time attainable using Golay code excitation in addition to or even instead of averaging where applicable is demonstrated.
