Abstract
Impulse radio based ultra wide-band (IR-UWB) transceiver uses short pulses for carrier free data transmission in short distance. In this paper we are reporting a new monocycle pulse (MCP) generation technique which can be used in a single chip implementation of an IR-UWB transceiver for intra/interchip communication in future ULSI. The proposed MCP´s width is 33 ps having a center frequency of 30 GHz and a -3 dB bandwidth of 17 GHz. The MCP power level is 2.7 mW at 1.8 V for an antenna input impedance of 50 Omega. Precise phase synchronization is not required at the receiver side while using the proposed MCP as transmitting and template signal of the transceiver system. Transmission and reception of the proposed MCP by using the developed IR-UWB transceiver has been confirmed by simulation and results are presented here
