Abstract :
Based on kinetic theory and thermodynamics, an analytic model of evaporation of a microdrop after it settling on a solid surface has been developed. Due to the axisymmetric meniscus shape, the evaporation process is modeled in one-dimension. Two scenarios with fixed sphere centre and constant contact angle have been respectively investigated. The predictions following the two assumptions are compared with the data from previously conducted experiments. Measurement strategy for such a novel thermoelectric drop sensor is proposed.
