Abstract
This paper presents the situation in developing countries (DC), which is so different from that in developed economies that the reform of the electricity supply industry (ESI) in these countries must pursue a different path from the practices adopted in Europe and the USA. The need for reform of the ESI is indisputable but the national priorities are different and an alternative more relevant industry structure will be proposed in this presentation.
