Abstract
This paper proposes an adaptive QoS control for advanced networks such as the next generation network where various wireless/wired access networks are converged to an IP-based core network. The proposed mechanism aims to support desirable QoS for real-time applications in the environment where the communication channel condition varies dynamically. The mechanism is able to provide reasonable media quality by adjusting the source encoding rate even when there is traffic congestion in the network. This paper also presents simulation results to show that the proposed mechanism works well.
