Abstract :
It is understandable that Chinese and foreign companies may have difference in their HR policies or practice, which may consequently impact on employees´ performance and satisfaction in either positive or negative way. Job description, performance appraisal, and compensation are three major dimensions of human resource management, closely related to people´s satisfaction. This study scrutinizes of the three aspects and the impact of each on employee´s satisfaction with Chinese and foreign companies accordingly, to make good sense of HRM approaches and managerial strength of the two types of company. This comparison will add to companies´ learning from various corporate cultures and their better understanding of local staff. The study presents also a new content or direction for comparative HRM research.
