Abstract :
We describe physical schemas for storing multidimensional arrays on disk. We have developed an i/o library supporting these schemas that provides an abstract interface shielding scientific application developers from physical storage details. Our library has resulted in simplified programming and improved i/o performance in the applications we have studied
