Abstract :
The present study demonstrated significantly different surface properties for different processes of anodizing titanium-based pedicle screws. The resulting micron tubular structures are significantly different that the nanotubular structures reported after anodization of commercially pure titanium foils in hydrofluoric acid. Significantly, after anodization using hydrofluoric acid, osteoblast densities significantly increased, demonstrating that such processes should be further investigated for orthopedic applications.
