Abstract :
We show that the solvability of the strengthened robust strict positive real (SPR) problem is more stringent in the discrete-time case than in the continuous-time case. A necessary condition is provided for the solvability of the strengthened robust SPR problem, which discards the search for a compensator in some important adaptive schemes used for identification purposes
