  • Abstract
This paper presents a overview of modern symbolic methods that exist for the analysis of analog circuits in general and specifically large circuits. The paper attempts to establish that the current applications trend for symbolic analysis is in the area of analog circuit simulation, synthesis and design. A brief comparison of the different methodologies for handling large circuits, namely, hierarchical methods, sequence of expressions methods and approximation methods, are made. The paper also includes a comparison of existing symbolic analysis software packages
