Abstract :
The Weyl symbol (WS) representation of linear operators is introduced for the time-frequency analysis of linear time-varying systems. The authors show that, from a joint time-frequency point of view, the WS and the usual time-varying transfer function (ZF) as introduced by Zadeh (1950) have similar theoretical justification. Interpretation, estimation, properties, and relations of both the WS and the usual ZF are elaborated
