Abstract :
Summary form only given. The resistivity due to current-driven ion-acoustic waves has been studied in detail for plasmas where the electron temperature greatly exceeds the ion temperature. However, there are few studies of ion-acoustic resistivity when the ion and electron temperatures are similar, a regime frequently observed in space plasmas. We report the findings from a parameter study of resistivity due to current-driven ion-acoustic waves using a Vlasov simulation code. Our study indicates that some previous analytical estimates are incorrect in this temperature regime.
