Abstract
A wearable RFID reader antenna operating in the UHF band is considered for its application in the scenario of tracking humans in a controlled environment as a navy ship. A demonstrative reader antenna is fabricated and tested. Then, a simulation is carried out to assess the compliance with the electric and magnetic field (EMF) safety guidelines placing the wearable antenna in different positions on the human body. The calculated specific absorption rate (SAR) values inside a realistic anatomical model are shown to be within the basic restrictions specified by EMF safety guidelines.
