Abstract :
The advances in the research of 3D (three dimensional) interactive visualization techniques in hydraulic engineering are reviewed. Key techniques and the difficulties with their solutions in the application of 3D interactive visualization techniques to water conservancy activities are analyzed and summarized. A framework for building 3D interactive visualization system for complex virtual scene in hydraulic engineering is presented to illustrate the application potentiality of 3D interactive visualization techniques in computer aided system for hydraulic engineering. The approach for the 3D interactive visualization of complex hydraulic engineering scene is described in detail. Aspects like presentations of data with spatial dependence, navigation in the terrain and geographical frame of reference and in time, interaction techniques are presented.
