Abstract
The most important factor for reliable supply of electricity is the provision of electromagnetic compatibility in power plants and substations. The paper presents the lack of standardized test procedures or detailed guidelines for in-situ electromagnetic compatibility testing for determining the electromagnetic compatibility levels and for evaluating the measured values in power plants and substations due to interferences generated during the switching operations of circuit breakers and disconnectors in normal operation with actual interference sources. The need for in-situ electromagnetic compatibility testing and evaluation of the results is demonstrated with the measurements results in substations in order to provide for electromagnetic compatibility in power plants and substations. The paper presents the procedure of testing for electromagnetic compatibility provision in power plants and substations.
